FLASHBACK:- THE 1970'S

Sometime in the 1970's, I was working as an employee of Dynapar Corp. in Gurnee, IL, but I was occasionally a little short of money, so I would occasionally do a bit of  engineering/manufacturing/servicing after hours or during free time.

I recall one time I had done some work for a little company in Brooklyn, NYC, and they owed me something like maybe $360 for over 30 days.  I called from Gurnee during our noon hour, and told the lady that answered, "I wish you could pay me that money right now.  It would solve all my problems."  The lady answered with a strong Jewish Brooklyn accent you could only get from there: "Oooh, it will solve aall your problems?'  I still laugh remembering the way she said it.  I guess it tickled my 1% European Jewish DNA.

Speaking of that DNA, possibly I might trace it back just a little bit.  When my mother was young, she had been mistaken for being Jewish.  My Aunt Esther Blankenburg, in later years used to attend Synagogue in Providence with another lady who actually was Jewish.  My grandfather Blankenburg had a "hooked nose", for whatever that is worth.  His father, Frank (or Franz) Blankenburg was a travelling musician. So much for that speculation.
